Dear Hamady Middle School Family,

I hope that you are healthy and safe, staying inside as much as possible. These are uncertain times which we live in, but I believe we will come out of this with a renewed love for life, friendships, family, and our community. I miss seeing all of your faces and I look forward to greeting you in the hallways and classrooms again.

Many of you are wondering what happens next? That is a good question to ask, and the answer seems to change daily. Currently, our governor has made the decision to close the school buildings for the remainder of the school year. We have been instructed to continue your education using other methods than face to face instruction. So what does that look like?

Your teachers have set up Google Classroom to continue instruction. Please be sure to log in daily for classroom assignments and directions. We are also offering Plato classes for students who would like to work ahead and gain skills in the next grade level, possibly earning High School credit. Students may also take online courses to help strengthen their math and reading skills. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact the school’s office for more directions. In addition, look forward to hearing from your teachers soon, as they will call you and send text messages. The goal is to keep you updated on assignments and also to check in with you to see if you are in need of assistance. We are all in this together!

If you need a device to work on class material, please contact the school office to arrange a time to pick one up. If you need internet access please contact one of the local providers that are offering free internet access. If you are not eligible for those resources, the district has limited hotspots available for check out.

As you know, our Sadie Hawkins Dance was cancelled and we will mail out your $5.00 refund if you purchased a ticket. Don’t forget to check our school website page and our school social media pages for updates and important messages. Again, please continue to stay healthy and safe; we will work through this together. We ARE Westwood Heights!

Best regards,

Ms. Dionna Ross, Ed.S.
