Principal's Message

Greetings Hawk Family,

The 2018-2019 school year has been amazing thus far, and just like that the first semester is soon coming to an end!  We’ve had a busy first half of the school year: Becoming a part of Project Healthy Schools, Study Hall, Student of the Month, Homecoming, Halloween Dance, Breast Cancer Bracelet Fundraiser, Creation of our Middle School Pantry, Hat and Scarf Giveaway, our Middle School Lock-In, and the first Middle School Band Performance. Thank you for entrusting your child’s education with us! We are truly happy to have them as part of our growing Hawk Family.

The second semester will include many tasks for your students. The School wide Science Fair is approaching and the handouts were given to all of the students before Thanksgiving Break. I hope you are all working diligently on these wonderful projects at home together. The due date is February 20, 2019 and presentations are February 21 and 22, 2019. In addition, this semester students will work on their EDP’s, take the MSTEP test and PSAT 8/9 (8th graders only) and also have Exams in class. The National Junior Honor Society will have their induction ceremony welcoming new members who meet the criteria and they will participate in more Community Service Projects this semester. Our Middle School Student Council will host its annual Sadie Hawkins dance in the Spring, and we will have our 2nd annual 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony and Reception in June. I hope that we will also have an end of the year field trip for our 8th grade students as well. More details to come later.

Thank you again parents and guardians for all of your support! Please be sure you are checking ParentVue on a regular basis to keep up with your child’s progress. Our teachers are always eager to hear from you so please email or call with any concerns you may have. It is imperative that you are engaged in the educational process; a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your student’s education. I also look forward to seeing you at my Breakfast Chats/Sandwich Chats which I host once a month (some in the morning and some in the afternoon) to hear any of your concerns and to let you know about events going on here at Hamady Middle School. The dates and times are posted on the Middle School Website, I make calls home informing you of the date and time, and the students also bring home handouts (please check their bookbags daily).

Again, thank you for sending your child to Hamady Middle School. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Sincerely,

Ms. Dionna Ross, Ed.S.

Hamady Middle School Principal/7-12 Curriculum Coordinator
